By some lucky coincidence, we had to go to both Budapest and Amsterdam for work purposes for a few months.  These pictures are from our visit to Budapest in October.

Pictures 1-2:  the view over the Danube from our room at the Gellert Hotel, by day and by evening. Picture 3:  while waiting for dinner in the lobby of the Gellert, a harpist plays.  It's that kind of place.  Pictures 4-5: ourselves outside.  Pictures 6-8:  views of our hotel and down the Danube at night.

We stayed on a houseboat in the Amsterdam suburbs while David had some meetings in the Netherlands in November.  Believe it or not, it was one of the cheapest places to stay (excluding dives in the red light district downtown).  All very civilized.  Pictures 9-10:  views from the boat of ducks splashing around.  Pictures 11-12:  inside the boat.  Pictures 13-14:  views from the stern, including more ducks.  Pictures 15-16:  downtown Amsterdam.
